My name is Jenn and I would like to adopt the Fundacio Joan Miro.
Tell us a bit more about yourself
I live in Vancouver, BC and have lived here my whole life. I have travelled lots, but I haven’t lived elsewhere yet. My dream is to move to Spain for a year or more, as I love the Spanish culture! I’m a lover of travelling and you can follow some of my travel gems at my blog babcia.ca
Tell us a bit more about your adopted museum
Fundacio Joan Miro is in Barcelona, Spain, and showcases the lovely work of Joan Miro, a well known Spanish artist. Miro’s paintings, sculptures and drawings are showcased at the museum along with some creative works by other contemporary artists. The museum is open Tuesday – Sunday and costs £11 for adults and £7 for students and seniors.
Why have you chosen to adopt this museum?
I really love Miro’s work, I like the interesting imagery and symbolism he uses, which reflects his free spirited energy. The museum showcases his work throughout his years so I really learned about how his style evolved and the stages he went through. I got to know and understand Miro as an artist, which made me really appreciate and love his work. Overall, Miro’s work is very playful and leaves you feeling very inspired to create, which is why I loved it!
Why would you recommend people visit?
Fundacio Joan Miro is an inspiring museum for all ages where you can experience the creative art and life of Miro. Miro’s work is beautifully displayed in the airy white building that was specifically built to showcase Miro’s work. The rooftop contains a sculpture garden and has great views of Barcelona and its harbour. The museum is located in Parc de Montijuic, which is a beautiful part of Barcelona and great for exploring after visiting the museum.
How would you sum up your museum in three words?
